Remedial Massage is an effective treatment for reducing stress, pain, muscle tension. Promoting quicker recovery after races, sports, exercise, strenuous activities. It helps to relieve headaches, soft tissue injuries / conditions and RSI (Repetitive Strain Injuries)

At Mind & Body Balance Sports and Remedial Massage I incorporate varying techniques which involves working and acting on the body with pressure – structured, unstructured, stationary or moving – tension, motion or vibration, done manually or with Myofascial Dry Needling, at your consent. I use techniques that will be applied with the hands, fingers, knuckles, forearms and elbows. Some advanced techniques may involve my knee being used at your consent.
With Dry Needling, the needles are used to target the trigger point of the problem muscle, this is known as the myofascial trigger point and is often described as a muscle ‘knot’ which contributes to muscle pain and dysfunction.
The needle is gently inserted into the skin directly at this point and often a local twitch response is experienced, this is a good sign and is what the practitioner is looking for. It means the trigger point has been stimulated, jump starting the muscle and nerve supply and increasing the blood flow to the area which helps to relax the muscle. When this local twitch response occurs, a brief painful response might be felt but it won’t last for more than a second.
After dry needling treatment, the area that was treated will feel much softer and relaxed and the person will feel better.
ART is a patented, state of the art soft tissue system/movement based massage technique that treats problems with muscles, tendons, ligaments, fascia and nerves. Headaches, back pain, carpal tunnel syndrome, shin splints, shoulder pain, sciatica, plantar fasciitis, knee problems, and tennis elbow are just a few of the many conditions that can be resolved quickly and permanently with ART.
These conditions all have one important thing in common: they are often a result of overused muscles.
